‘When The Bough Breaks’ is a metaphor for surviving with damage.
Trees do not heal wounds the way other living organisms do, they seal them. Through a process called compartmentalization, a tree seals off damaged or diseased areas by forming walls around it, literally encasing it, allowing the tree to grow around it.
Many of us are living in this same way, compartmentalising our emotional fractures, living with invisible wounds or scars.

Each bough is hand cast from nature. No methods of mass production are employed in my work, so each bough has been individually cast in silver from an actual twig.

‘When the bough breaks’…….The bough is detailed with a twist of handmade silver rope which holds the bough together.

A stunning Psilomelane Dendrite hangs beneath, like the branches of the bough. This is a natural, raw stone with a druzy finish, set in an organic-style setting. The branch inclusions form as manganese and iron are deposited in tiny cracks between layers of limestone and other rock.

This stone is one of the oldest scrying and gazing stones known to man. Many ancient civilizations used the Psilomelane as a stone that could see into the future or faraway lands in the hands of the seer or fortune teller.

Today this stone is believed to heal emotional scars and overcome psychological barriers. It is considered a potent and powerful stone.

The silver has been oxidised, highlighted and brushed. Oxidisation is a surface treatment that can lighten with wear. All oxidised areas are given a coat of microcrystalline wax to help protect the darkened surface.
