Over the hills and far away……

Across the sleeping hills of the English countryside, a silver hare leaps among the grass. 
In folklore the hare is a creature of twilight and moonlight, a messenger of magic, seen only in fleeting moments as it runs between worlds. Long associated with the moon, femininity, and intuition, the hare is often linked to the goddess Eostre, who symbolizes rebirth and renewal. A sacred and mystical animal to the Celts who saw them as a symbol of abundance, prosperity and good fortune, they were treated with great respect. 

‘Over The Hills’ hangs from a paper clip style 18″ sterling silver chain which is detailed with silver and moonstone beads, and is finished with one of my handmade silver clasps.
The silver has been textured, oxidised, brushed and highlighted. 
The silver has been darkened, or oxidised, to emphasise the texture and details. Oxidisation is a surface treatment that will  lighten with wear. All oxidised areas are sealed with a layer of lacquer and waxed with a microcrystalline wax to help protect the oxidised surface.
As with all of my pieces, each and every jump ring is soldered closed to prevent any piece of the pendant coming apart or getting lost.

Material – thick, layered, sustainably sourced recycled sterling silver with 9 carat yellow gold crescent moon – solid gold

Beads – five approximately 4.5 mm moonstone beads and ten 2.5 mm silver beads
Chain – approximately 18″ sterling silver paper clip style with incorporated silver and moonstone beads, finished with handmade fixings
