The ‘Dark Moon’ is the very last visible crescent of a waning moon, directly before the new moon.  It’s name refers to the fact that it is barely visible and reflecting very little light back to Earth.
The ancient Greeks associated the phase of the dark moon with Hecate, the goddess of dark places. Hecate held power over magic, witchcraft and the night.

This statement piece is constructed from multiple layers of sterling silver and decorated with a deep hand applied texture. 
An inverted crescent moon sits above a stunning fancy cut chlorite quartz gemstone. A pear Moss Agate hangs freely beneath. Pierced details behind the stones allow light to show through.
These stones are truly amazing. The clear crystal quartz of the Chlorite Quartz is included with green ghost crystal, referred to as Phantom Quartz. The name Chlorite comes from the Greek word for green. Moss Agate is a type of Chalcedony included with green minerals which create moss like inclusions. Each stone is perfectly unique with inclusions and natural ‘flaws’.

The pendant hangs from a thick silver ‘halo’ and one of my substantial 18″ sterling silver ‘Wicca’ chains finished with my handmade silver clasp.

‘Dark Moon’ has been oxidised and highlighted. Oxidisation is a surface treatment that will lighten with wear.
All oxidised areas are given a coat of sealing lacquer and microcrystalline wax to help protect the darkened surface.
This statement piece carries my maker’s mark and hallmark, and comes gift boxed.
